Richard Fox Joinery Details

Richard left school at Otley in 1966 and started out as a indentured apprentice in Carpentry and Joinery at Peter Patricks Timber Merchants, on Courthouse street in Otley. Also attended Leeds college of Building one day a week and also two evenings a week. After two years at Leeds, Richard then switched to Shipley College to attain the City and Guilds Craft Certificate and then to Keighley College for a year to get the City and Guilds Advanced Craft Certificate, which he passed with a credit and a distinction. During this time Patricks ceased trading, so Richard transferred his apprenticeship to Hollingwoods, a Local Housebuilder of the time. In 1971 Richard completed his apprenticeship and over the next few years, gained experience working for many company's both local and national, on site and in the joiners shop.

Richard Fox Joinery was formed in 1984, when Richard decided to follow his dream of working for himself. The first few years was difficult as the cellar at home was utilised as a workshop, but then Richard started renting a unit in Nelson Road in Ilkley and over the intervening years quality woodworking machinery has been installed, to meet most wood machining needs.
